2011-8-5-to stpete ,Day 1.
Said fairwell to V Novgorod and travelled a few Km to St Peterburg.
The good road paused for a bit and the local contractors were obviously bored so played on his bike to entertain his mates.
Big sheds - metal- under construction for livestock?. Super highways and boats heading to showrooms nearby. Lots of sea and lakes nearby for recreation.
Had lunch at a truck stop and fueled up for second last time in Russia and then I drove into St P to let Greg Navigate, we got a bit lost but kept turning left to jump off the Moscow hiway !! back into St P CBD, Whew !!. A bit nerve racking.
Staying at the Moscow Hotel, a bit Confusing as we're in St P, parking very expensive out front. Hotel OK but Internet is the worst !!! and not free hence the delays in posting the blogs ,'till we get to Estonia .
Wandered into town in the afternoon and booked a boat trip for tmoro morn as the wind was getting up and the open channel could get a bit rough. Paid a RR1000 deposit to Barry? a large boatman and agreed to meet at 9, 'yes, in the morning' have to check the comms !!, language can be tricky.
Morning dawned fine and sunny, again, (but note, St P only gets 35 perfect days a year !!)
Very relaxing cruising in our own wee vessel, quite the rich and famous !!.
A nice perspective from the water, and we saw a dredge working, wow !.
We followed it up by lunch and Hop-on-off bus tour for the commentary Barry left off.
Stopped off at
The Artilliary Museum, this is the place of carnage!, no expense spared !.
